Reinforcement Learning Technology Soars in South Korea’s Latest AI Flight Simulator

The Republic of Korea Air Force has introduced an AI-enhanced tactical development and flight simulation system — the first in the nation to utilize reinforcement learning (RL) technology.

This reinforcement learning enables the system to learn autonomously through trial and error, receiving “rewards” for successful outcomes while progressively identifying the most effective strategies to achieve the user’s goals.

Created by Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI), the simulator operates with a virtual aircraft that is equipped with real-world tactical data, allowing it to formulate strategies independently.
